WTF is the Bachelor Winter Games

A lot of you have asked me today about the Bachelor Winter Games.

The cast was announced today and a few peeps wrote me on Instagram so I figured I’d get my shit together and write you a quick intro to this four-episode sub-series to The Bachelor franchise.

The show premieres on February 13th at 8 PM EST – just in time for Valentine’s Day duh – meaning that for four weeks our Mondays and Tuesdays will be dedicated to The Bachelor.

Listen, you know me and I am not complaining about that. And I give snaps to the franchise’s development team for putting this together in preparation for the Winter Olympics.

What I am curious about is the HOW? And after that I guess I’m wondering WHY we need this but I think I can answer that questions since you can easily leave it to The Bach to find any excuse to rustle up another show as they have an insane amount of dedicated fans.

Back to the HOW: contestants will apparently be competing in events like Ice Skating and in winning the competitions, you win dates and an ultimate chance at love?

This is a stretch even for me you guys, but I’ll give it a chance and be here to discuss it with you.

I’m most interested in seeing the dynamic between the US team members and it’s international counterparts. I watch a lot of reality TV and I’m curious about how cultural differences will impact the romantic element of things (Terrace House is a lot more respectful than the Real World) so it’ll be unique to watch that play out.

The other thing that I’m excited to see will be how a US network will represent America vs. the World. We all know how the US networks can get during the actual Olympics and international sporting events, so I’m looking forward to see how they angle this show in turn.

As the cast was revealed this morning, I’ve outlined the starting line up below.

There are still rumours that more members may join the cast as taping goes on (similar to Bachelor in Paradise), so we’ll just have to stay tuned to see!
