It seems that each time I move, my hardest design challenge always ends up being creating an office space. Now perhaps this is my sub-conscious telling me that I’m too delicate to work for the rest of my life, but in the event that reality continues as is I think it’s time I create an inspiring and welcoming work space in my new home.
My biggest goal (and thrill) of a redesign this time around, is to make it as feminine and bright as I want. I also, for the first time ever, am actually going to set a budget and stick to it. Which means I will certainly have to get creative in what I do. Admittedly, I tend to just purchase items blinds without considering cost or practicality…not the best. But considering this is a design plan for an office, it is only fitting that the items I select have an esthetic element but are also financially and spatially functional.
Here are a few looks that I’ve been collecting on Pinterest as I work to develop a vision for the space I have in mind.
Key themes to help me keep costs low include:
- Make your space unique and artistic with cost-effective prints (I am currently coveting these here)
- Spend vs. Splurge…Hello Ikea for savvy accents & storage
- Search on Craigslist, Kijiji and Thrift Shops for items I can reuse or revamp with D.I.Y.
You’d think the above sound like common sense, but you’ve never seen me in a furniture store before. This will be a challenge, I promise you.
