Diary of a Dairy-Free Girl

Happy Monday!

Starting my week off in Seattle and ending in LA so it’s going to be a JAM-PACKED week…be sure to check out my Insta Stories to follow along, ya?!

I wanted to share something kind of different today, especially on a Monday, because it’s time to reset and get back on track.

As you might know, I have been off dairy for over a year now but this past weekend I had a couple slip ups.

FULL REGRET…ok for real, I regret nothing but it is so interesting to note how I have been feeling since cutting out dairy vs. the pain and knots in my stomach when I consume even a tiny bit of cheese.

While it is hard to ween myself off the good stuff, the way I feel off dairy is incomparable so I’m back on track and am sharing some things that have helped along the way.

So let me introduce you to my favorite dairy-free partner in crime, Almond Breeze almond beverage.

Seriously you guys, this is one product I cannot live without, especially if I am looking for ways to maintain my healthy habits (i.e. coffee life and smoothies daily) without compromising taste, texture and my overall daily cooking routine.

I had tried a few varieties of almond beverages in the past but a lot of them felt like I was drinking fake or processed milk.

I was substituting with products that just didn’t taste or feel right in my mouth.

Once I started using Almond Breeze everything changed, it became my go-to for my morning coffee and evening tumeric milk and it was no longer about substituting but more a delicious addition to my day that simply tastes delicious.

I straight up packed this in my suitcase when I went to Bahamas and St. Barth’s because I didn’t know where it was available and I just could not live without it. So suffice it to say, I genuinely love this stuff and if you have been battling with dairy allergies or discomfort then you need to try it.

I think it’s because the almonds that go into every drop of Almond Breeze come straight from growers within Blue Diamond’s cooperative that have been in the almond business for 100 years.

There have been generations of families involved in farming the almonds that go into Almond Breeze and the Blue Diamond cooperative is owned by half of the state’s almond growers who produce over 80 percent of the world almond supply.

So in a nutshell (LOL!) these families know almonds and I know that I’m getting a high quality, fresh tasting almond beverage every day.

I’m sharing my go-to smoothie recipe using Almond Breeze below – give it a whirl and let me know what you think.

My go-to morning smoothie:

  • 1-cup of mixed berries
  • 1/2 a frozen banana
  • 1 tbsp of almond butter
  • 1/4 of ripe avocado
  • 1-cup of Almond Breeze unsweetened original almond beverage
  • 1 tbsp of collagen peptides
  • 1 tsp of Manuka honey (optional)

Add all ingredients to your blender or bullet, mix and enjoy!
