With the insane heat we’ve been having here in Toronto, I have been dying to host an impromptu Because It’s Summer party. While I’ve chosen to host an Olympic Opening Ceremonies Fete for friends & family tomorrow, my research tempted me toward a completely new-to-me celebration: Christmas In July.
Christmas In July is apparently celebrated all over the world. While I’ve been living under a rock, this event is a decorated festival in the US and Australia, full of pine cones, evergreen goodness and fluffy white delectables. While it’s not as well-known here in the Great White North, with the help of Pinterest, I have become completely enamoured with images of crystallized confectionaries, snowball white water balloons and cherry-bundled mistletoes.
I came across this Christmas In July scene here, and I have to say I found it seriously stunning. It’s like a Southern summer fantasy world, brought to life with a few simple decorations and holiday-inspired treats. I am itching to throw a similar celebration, though it saddens me to know that I’ll have to suffer through actual Christmas for next summer! Till then I spend my days making a list, checking it twice and have 365 days to decide who’s naughty or nice!
