I’ve had my fair share of holiday hiccups so I feel like I’ve created a solid list to avoid stress based on experience HA.
From throwing fitness to the wind to thinking that I weigh 300 lbs and drinking like I do too, in the past I have totally lost my routine during the holiday season.
Because of that I’ve constructed ideas that include self-care, self-reflection and self-control!
It’s a healthy blend so not to worry, but the key to surviving the holidays is to remember that it’s not necessary to keep it 100% just because it’s a busy time of year.
So here it is: My Top 10 Ways to Avoid Holiday Stress – Enjoy!
Workout on Your Normal Schedule (as much as possible)
Look you’re not going to stick to your normal schedule. If you’re busy, it’s near impossible but if you can or as close to it as you can then YOU SHOULD!
Get Your Sleep!
Just try. Seriously. Take a few nights per week to actually catch your Zzz’s. Your body and mind will love you.
Say No to Certain Events
IT’S OK! ACTUALLY THOUGH. YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING.
Drink All the Water and Take Your Vitamins
This is one that I know is tough. There are so many other drinks but choose water. At least during the day. And start it with your vitamins. Your body needs it when you’re polluting it with more wine, cheese and confectionaries than ever.
Don’t Drink Alcohol at Every Party
Easier said than done I know but want to know something funny? People will get drunk. And they won’t notice when that tequila soda starts holding the tequila.
Start Thinking About Your 2019 Goals
It’s so important to remind yourself that life goes on after December. Don’t forget about where you’re going.
Remember Every Outing is Not a Cheat Meal
Try a salad. Or vegetable. At least one meal per day.
Reflect on How Far You’ve Come in 2018
Just like you need to look ahead, you should celebrate how far you’ve come. Re-read your 2018 goals, reassess and enjoy the process.
Give Back to Your Community
During this time of year it’s easier than ever. Donate a toy. Volunteer your time. Spread the wealth that you have. We can all do more.
Make ME TIME During HOLIDAY TIME
The holidays aren’t just about stretching yourself too thin to create the perfect season for everyone else. You matter too! Stick to that workout. Do the face mask. Say no if you’re too tired with ZERO GUILT. You got this and if you don’t it’s ok to take a beat.
